receiving a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering at Technische
Universität Kaiserslautern, I joined NTT DOCOMO Euro-Labs as a researcher. I
had been contributing, coordinating and leading several internal and external
R&D projects in a cooperation with mobile operators, mobile equipment
vendors and academic partners in the area of Mobile IP, ubiquitous services
support by using IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), Cross Layer Optimization (CLO)
in 3G and in 4G, Machine Type Communication (MTC).
working at NTT DOCOMO Euro-Labs, I also pursued a Phd degree of Electrical
Engineering from Technische Universität München with the research focus on the
Cross-Layer Design (CLD) for user-centric Quality of Experience (QoE) in mobile
During the last decade, I have promoted and standardized cutting edge technologies for 4G and 5G by representing NTT DOCOMO in several organizations and standardization bodies including NGMN Alliance, IETF and 3GPP. These are, for example, Network Slicing, Control and User Plane Separation (CUPS) of EPC nodes, Network Management for Virtualized Network Function (VNF) in EPC, SIP-based multimedia Session Mobility, Management of User Plane congestion in the Radio Access Network (RAN). Since 2015, I have been leading a standardization team working in the area of system architecture for 5G mobile communication network.
